“Goth to us means an embrace of human drama, and the craziness of life in all its forms. It means you stop running from darkness and uncertainty, and you turn around to face it. When you do that, you see there is light and joy inside it, which is liberating—it means you can actually embrace this life for what it is, not what you wish it would be.
“Goth is still relevant, and always will be. While there is drama, darkness, and longing in the human experience, we’ll need people to express that for us. For me there is no greater joy than when someone brings to life the deeper feelings I’ve had myself—it’s like a guiding light from someone who has been where you are, and it makes you feel like you’re not on your own in the world.”
